The Center for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at IBA Karachi proudly celebrates a major achievement as its Master’s of Journalism student, Ms. Nazish Abro, and her team secure victory in the prestigious Climate Tank Accelerator from Sindh, Pakistan.
Their innovative project, Floating Wetlands in Korangi, developed by Nazish Abro, Aleezeh Azmat, Areesha Aslam, and Amna Lakha, aims to combat water pollution while benefiting local communities and ecosystems. The project has received a $1,000 grant for expansion and will represent Pakistan at a fully funded fellowship at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
This initiative highlights the power of youth-led climate solutions, aligning with Sindh’s urgent need for sustainable environmental interventions. SindhClimate, a platform dedicated to promoting climate resilience, strongly supports such projects and encourages young leaders to develop innovative, localized solutions. Floating wetlands can play a vital role in addressing water contamination issues in Karachi’s urban waterways, making this initiative a model for future ecological restoration projects.
SindhClimate https://sindhclimate.com/Â urges stakeholders, policymakers, and academic institutions to recognize and invest in such transformative ideas for a greener, climate-resilient Sindh.
