“”Green Marshall Plan” to address climate induced #LossAndDamage in the developing countries, Says FM-BBZ

The 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in Egypt from 6 to 18 November 2022, seeks renewed solidarity between countries to deliver on the landmark Paris Agreement, for people and the plan

In the lead up to COP27, to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres @antonioguterres, with President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi of Egypt, will host an informal Leaders’ Roundtable on Climate Action, bringing together a small but diverse and representative group of Heads of State and Government during the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly.

Pakistan’s foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed his views through twitter account @BBhuttoZardari:

“In leaders roundtable on CoP27 at UN. Deeply touched by the overwhelming support & solidarity expressed at the meeting for the people of Pakistan. “Green Marshall Plan” is urgently needed to address climate induced loss & damage in the developing countries”

The roundtable will facilitate a frank and informal exchange between world leaders as climate impacts worsen around the world and carbon emissions continue to climb to a record all-time high, hitting vulnerable communities the hardest. Amidst this worsening crisis, the roundtable will take stock of actions taken by governments to date to fulfill and strengthen commitments made at and before COP26 in Glasgow. It will also highlight the significant gaps on climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience, climate finance, as well as loss and damage.

The event aims to build a common understanding on how world leaders can strengthen international cooperation and re-energize the multilateral system to deliver demonstrable progress through a successful outcome at #COP27 that will help to bridge these gaps.
