ICOMOS Pakistan and the members of civil society are concern to tackle climate change and preserve ancient Banyan trees in Karachi.
It is rarely observed that the members of civil society sit together to discuss and debate in the corner meetings about climate change, preservation and neighborhood care management.
As per twitter details shared by Ms. Marvi Mazhar @marvimazhar out of 48 banyan trees, only 18 got preserved we still have a whole stretch of banyan trees on Hatim Alvi Road that needs love.
She highlighted that particular lovely Banyan is different from other 48 Banyan Trees; mapped. The condition of this tree is a reminder that the Banyan Tree Preservation Project still needs to be completed as out of 48 only 18 got its due attention the rest still edging / pruning and infrastructural development around it.
She held responsible to @Ministerculture @murtazawahab1 @KmcPakistan @AntiquitieSindh @CommissionerKhi @DCSouthKarachi. Need an urgent attention and necessary measures to be taken by the concern to save ancient Banyan Trees in Karachi.
